Award Criteria
Empower Ability Accessibility Awards are given to websites for their efforts towards accessibility and usability. We welcome nominations from everyone, including disabled and non-disabled individuals, on all kinds of sites. The criteria we use for judging the nominations and deciding on the award winners are as follows:
- Design – how does the design enhance the accessibility of the site?
- Ease of use – how easy is it to navigate around the site? Can information be found quickly and simply? Are there extra options in place to assist disabled users (for example, the ability to change the font size and colour scheme)?
- Interactivity – does the site encourage user interaction? Does it include tools such as a blog or a forum?
- Use of technology – does the site make effective use of technology (for example, audio and visual content)
- Innovation – in what ways is this site original, fresh and new?
- Content – is the content structured in a logical way? Does it use clear and concise language?
You can nominate any site by going to the Nominate section.
